1920s French Couture Pink Silk Velvet Dress & Coat Set

- 1920s French couture panne velvet embellished dress & coat set. Originally purchased in Paris and carefully stored for nearly a century as a family heirloom.
- The dress features incredible embellishment with candy pink domes, iridescent sequins, Czech glass and pearl beading.
- Slim fit with a dropped waist and paneled skirt
- The hip is cinched by the belt, creating a blouson effect in the bodice.
- The belt opens on the side with hook & eye closures to allow you to slip the dress on overhead. No side opening in the dress.
- Coat is absolutely amazing with woven chenille inserts in Deco motifs.
- Lined in pink silk satin with gold bullion trim. Trim lines the inside of the front placket, hem, and even the inside of the cuffs.
- Natural fox fur collar.
- Original matching velvet covered button closure at the neckline.
- Silk velvet is incredibly soft to the touch. It is high shine.

- The belt currently fits a 36" hip but could easily be adjusted. The hip of the dress itself is a bit bigger than the belt.

- Label: Anna Suc de Madeleine-Madeleine 104 Ave de Champs Elysées Paris.
- Atelier Anna joined couturier La Maison Madeleine in 1924. In 1926 the label became famous for its invention of the first women's smoking jacket in gold lamé. There are many surviving ads and photos of the salon available online. Though it is not as well known today, it was a famous couture label of the era.
- Very good to excellent condition, remarkably well kept for 100 years of age.
- Condition details~ The dress is overall very good. There are a few scattered faint discolorations and signs of age. There are a few tiny mends where the weight of the belt strained the silk. These are hidden by the belt when worn.
- The dress was re-lined with pink silk chiffon hand-dyed to match the dress. The former lining had deteriorated and was probably not original. The new lining helps take weight off of the silk velvet to protect it from damage. It could be removed if you prefer.
- The back hem was originally weighted. The weight was removed when the dress was re-lined to prevent it from straining the velvet. It is included as it's a pretty pink silk covered chain.
- The label in the dress was backed onto a piece of silk to preserve it.
- Coat is overall excellent~ a few tiny pinholes and a few visible stitches in the ruching at the back of the collar. A few minor faint discolorations.
- It's possible the fur collar was replaced at some point. No shedding or loss.
- Both pieces are overall excellent and wearable with the care. No dry rot or deterioration. This set has been steamed, but not dry cleaned to preserve it as much as possible. It has been gently restored with the utmost care to preserve it for another 100 years.
- An extraordinary treasure to find a dress and matching coat of this quality, in such excellent condition, and still together after 100 years. An investment that will continue to increase in value.
